next exhibition： current exhibition： Naofumi MARUYAMA "between morning and night"   Nov. 11, Fri. – Dec. 17, Sat., 2005 Closed on Mon., Sun. and National holidays Naofumi MARUYAMA     day and night  2005 Naofumi Maruyama was born in Japan in 1964 and started his artistic career in the early 90’s. After his two-year stay in Berlin, he showed his work in Taipei Biennial in 2002, the inaugural exhibition “Happiness” in Mori Museum of Art in 2003 as well as “Elegance of Silence” in Mori Museum again in 2005. His paintings with using staining technique which does not allow him to attempt twice at the canvas bring the tense composition in the painting while there is the sensuous quality of beauty. His work stays fresh as the motif he chooses and his style of paintings never stays still as if it was fluid. There we can find his intention to float over the boundary between abstract and figurative with having the particular technique to express.
