SHUGOARTS is pleased to announce a solo show by SHIMABUKU, gThe Story So Far 2h from 12th July to 11th August 2007.
SHIMABUKU, who is currently based in Berlin, has been working on his art pieces which are mainly site-specific art projects and performances throughout the world since early 1990s. When he visits a new place, he starts his projects with picking up anecdotes that even the local people had forgotten about or possibilities that are unique to the context, and develops it by involving people, often even animals.
With this solo show, he is going to exhibit poetic and humorous art works, e.g. gDisappearance and Appearance of Eyebrowh (1991), gSouvenirh (1992) and so on. These art works suggest us a new possibility for communication, as well as a new value of enriched life for human beings.
Following to the exhibition of this spring, "The Door into Summer: The Age of Micropop" at Art Tower Mito, Ibaraki, this show will be a precious opportunity to see representative art works of this mostly shown in abroad artist varied from early 1990s to yet-to-be-exhibited art works in Japan.

I wanted to show people that there are many different ways to reach a single destination.
I think if I wasnft an artist probably I would be a travel guide.
